This piece is 18 1/2" long by 7 1/2" wide, with two internal compartments separated by a divider with integrated handle. Originally it would have been used for carrying flatware and other small items around a Shaker community's dining room.

The design is derived from a piece illustrated in Ejner Handberg's Shop Drawings of Shaker Furniture and Woodenware, Vol. I (Berkshire Traveler Press, 1973). It has been slightly adapted to place the bottom boards in an internal groove, and box joints have been used at the corners rather than the original butt joints.
 

This sturdy traditional farm table is 38” wide, 72” long and 30” high. It comfortably seats six people and can handle eight with one at each end. This piece is 10 1/2" long by 6 7/8" wide by 10" high, with six spaces 2 3/4" square. The parts are joined with half lap joints and dados that add considerable strength to withstand jostling and the weight of the beer.

The handle can be outfitted with a longer rope so that it can be carried over your shoulder.
